Skin care products which claim to be organic

Skin care products which claim to be organic aren’t always what they seem – but there are ways you can make sure you’re getting the real thing.

Alice Hart-Davis, writing in the Daily Mail, says an environmental group has filed a lawsuit against 26 cosmetic companies in the USA which are accused of falsely labelling products as organic.

Here in the UK, she says, a company is allowed to describe a product as organic even if it only has tiny amounts of organic ingredients.

However, if it’s certified by the Soil Association, Ecocert or USDA, the product must contain at least 95% organic ingredients and therefore indicates it is genuinely organic ingredients.
